After 12 months of hard stressful work , the son of an unwell father owner ids two thirds of the way through a successful turnaround of a £1.5m sales business.
Inheriting a position of declining sales (progressively down from £3m in 2008 to £2m in 2016), small losses, disorientated staff, poor systems, & a broken business model, the challenge was daunting !
The fact that the business was a fashion accessories wholesaler to the retail industry, including some big names, was not helpful.
Working with Avocet, overheads have been slimmed, disorientated staff gone, information systems drastically improved, & the model reworked to aim at the smaller independent retailer.
Result is that on a business where sales reduced by 25% in 12 months, the trading loss was held at 50k, with enhanced profit margins & a more relevant product range boding well for a profitable sales increase for 2018.
